Restylane fillers injections treatment

Restylane is a crystal-clear gel that is injected in small quantities in the skin using a thin, fine needle. The Restylane gel consists of a minimally modified hyaluronic acid that is similar to the hyaluronic acid that is naturally found in the body. Restylane is slowly broken down in a natural way in the body. A newly published clinical study shows that the effect of a Restylane treatment together with an additional follow-up treatment can last up to as long as 18 months.

Restylane have a specific gels to all skin types and coinditions.

Restylane product information

Restylane is manufactured by Q-Med and launched in 1996 for the UK market. It is believed to be one of the most popular brands in the UK with most practitioners approving its use in treating patients with different medical conditions of the face. It therefore stands out as one of the most popular dermal fillers in the UK market.

Since its introduction into the market, it has been used by over 4 million people across the world with additional product range formulations developed with different sizes of the gel particles specifically for use in some areas of the face. Restylane® Lidocaine and Restylane® Perlane are available as of 2009 with an additional 0.3 percent lidocaine. It is generically a non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid gel (NASHA) and is made through the process of streptococci bacteria fermentation and does not require any tests before treatment is administered.

The hyaluronic acid, once the substance is injected into the body; breaks down gradually finally leaving the treated area with no left trace of the filler-implying that the product is temporary in application and so can only last for some limited amount of time. The main product ranges are:

  • Restylane
  • Perlane
  • Touch

Restylane works best when injected into the middle skin layer which is also the middle layer of the dermis and is used for lip enhancement and also treatment of moderate wrinkles; enabled by the presence of intermediate sized gel particles.

Perlane is large in gel particle composition and is suitable for facial contouring, lip enhancement and deep lines. It is advisable to inject it into the deep layer of the skin.

Touch is the smallest of all in terms of particle size and is best for very thin superficial lines, with injections right into the upper section of the dermis. Other formulations in the Restylane range include Lipp, SubQ, Vital and Vital Light which is targeted at treatment areas like the neck, face, the area between the neck and breasts (decotellage) and hands.

The hyaluronic acid that is lost due to ageing can be replaced by application of this range formulation. The duration for Restylane lasts for a few months depending on the practitioner, type, amount and area of administration.

Restylane is not used during pregnancy and have minimal side effects other than some bruising and mild swelling after the procedure. All the product ranges cannot be used for patients with known conditions of hypersensitivity towards hyaluronic acid.

Restylane Lip Filler Guide

A Restylane treatment is long-lasting but non-permanent, and allows you to change your look over time. All lip filler treatments can be applied as one or combined as you desire – for an individual and natural look.

Lip enhancement treatments are very easy with Restylane Dermal Fillers, and only require a local anaesthetic. The lip filler is injected into the lips to make them fuller and regain their natural look.

Lip line

A defined lip line accentuates your lips without changing your appearance too much. Restylane gives your lip enhancement a natural and smooth result. If you desire fuller more plump lips you could combine this treatment by adding volume to your upper and lower lip.

Cupid’s bow

Not everyone wants fuller lips. Maybe you just wish for a more defined cupid’s bow to define the shape of your upper lip. Restylane gives you the freedom to choose.

Smile lines

Smiling a lot might have given you unwanted lines on your cheeks. Restylane can smooth out those lines in a natural way. Keep smiling and let Restylane take away unwanted lines.

Lip volume

You change and fashion changes. For a long-lasting, non-permanent and natural result, choose Restylane! If you desire fuller lips or just want to balance an irregularity, Restylane can help you change as much or as little as you like. It could be just a small amount of volume or more if you prefer.

Sad mouth corners

Are you happy, and smiling – but your mouth is showing something else?

Smoker’s line

Even if you have never smoked you may have small lines around your mouth. These are called smoker’s lines. With Restylane you can easily smooth out those lines – if you want to.

Lip revitalisation

Dry lips? Refresh your lips by revitalising them from within. With small injections of Restylane Vital™ in your dry lips, you regain that sought after fresh look for your lips.

Really pleased with my experience from start to finish. I went for a procedure three days ago at the Bristol clinic. The receptionist was quick to call me back when I enquired about an appointment, and booked me in quickly. The waiting room was more like a visit to one of William the third's apartments at Hampton Court Palace. The really kind and friendly nurse helped to put me at ease before and during the procedure and made the experience less terrifying (I was very nervous)! And Dr Rhys Stevens also put made me feel relaxed and did a really good job, and pain free procedure. I'm very pleased with the results. Thank you!

I had been shopping around to have some Facial Thread Vein work done and was feeling unsure about it. I had concerns due to my lack of knowledge about the procedure as I have never had anything like this done before. All the other places I contacted were not so helpful and just booked me in for a consultation. However I spoke to Helen at Cosmedics on the telephone and found her helpful and informative. She listened to my concerns and even offered suggestions. It is rare these days to receive a high level of friendly customer service but on this day I did receive it. I have since had the work done and happy so far as I only had it done two days ago. However my big thanks is to Helen for putting me in the right direction. Thanks Helen!

  1. I would like to have lines reduced. I would like to know how long you need, from having my treatment assessed, to when it is done………………… A.N.D. how long is recovery.. do I see the difference at time… or do I need to wait for a result

    1. Hi Bronagh, fillers injections can normally be carried out during the same appointment as the consultation if you choose to go ahead.
Results with fillers are instantly visible. Your skin will be smoother and younger-looking.
In terms of side-effects, there can be redness, swelling and occasionally a small bruise that may last 1-2 days. This is normal and can all be covered with make-up.
For more information, see the FAQ section on http://www.cosmedics.co.uk/skin-treatments/facial-fillers/

    1. We use both Restylane and Juvederm for lip enhancement treatments. They are both excellent safe products but have slightly different characteristics that make them suitable for slightly different skin types. Our doctors always assess the patient first to decide which product is the most suitable for them. If you have had Restylane before and liked the result, then that would of course be taken into account. Our London clinics are in Harley Street, Putney, Knightsbridge and City. Book a consultation.

  2. hi, im wondering what the best treatment/filler or botoxwould be for wrinkles under the eyearea, resting onthe cheekbone/eyesocket?

    1. Hello Lisa, this is best assessed in a consultation with an aesthetic doctor who could recommend the best options. This appointment is free of charge when you go ahead and have treatment on the same day. If you’d like to get an idea in advance of what’s possible, then you can email a photo confidentially to info@cosmedics.co.uk.

  3. I am 29 years old and have a young looking face, I however have bags under my eyes that I can no longer cover with make-up. They are there whether I’ve slept for 3 hours or 8 hours and gives me a very tired look. I would like to habe them reduced or removed.

    1. Hi, this can be a difficult area. Dr Ross Perry has recommended Nik Milo at the Milo clinic, who does lots of eyebag treatments.
