Facial Thread Vein Treatment

Also common are thread vein leg treatments with sclerotherapy or laser and varicose vein treatments with endovenous laser ablation.

Facial redness is a common problem that affects all age groups of men and women particularly around the nose and cheek areas. The redness is most of caused by tiny thin ‘thread’ veins on the surface of the skin.

Nowadays treatment is simple, safe and quick to remove these thread or spider veins.

Prices for the thread vein treatments on the face start at £350.

Call Cosmedics today on 0207 386 0464 to see how we can help.

For thread veins on the legs, our doctors generally use injectable treatments called sclerotherapy to remove the blueish red marks on the skin. Costs for leg veins injections start at £300.

ALL thread vein and spider vein removal procedures are done by doctors in a safe medical setting.

Private Doctor Consultation

Your consultation with a doctor will be completely private and without obligation. It will review your thread veins or spider veins in detail. The doctor will want to understand the cause and nature of your veins before recommending treatment. This includes how long you have had the veins, the possible cause, the spread of them and more.

Thread Vein Treatment

Thread veins typically occur on the face, nose, legs and body. Face and nose thread veins or spider veins:

  • usually red veins
  • often caused by excessive sun damage, smoking or due to family genes
  • these are treated by laser to seal off these unsightly blemishes

Leg thread veins

  • that are an unsightly blue-reddy colour
  • often found on the back of the knee, thighs and lower legs
  • treated by an injection called sclerotherapy that seals off the veins
  • can take a few weeks before the results are seen as the vessels need to dissolve
  • this treatment is best done in the autumn, winter and spring as tight stockings are generally needed to be worn for a week afterwards

Why do I have thread veins?

The causes of thread veins vary, but they are most commonly a result of family history, smoking or sun exposure. For the broken, red spider veins on the face and particularly the nose we use a cautery laser to remove the redness.

Who would benefit from thread vein removal treatments?

The treatment is ideal for patients that are troubled by unsightly or embarrassing spider veins or thread veins on the face. These may appear as blotches, small veins or a complex network of veins.

How much is treatment?

Treatment costs start at £350, but this would be confirmed at your consultation with the doctor.

In some cases, more than one session is required to get long lasting results. Sometimes a maintenance session is required after a few years, as the natural skin effects means that they can recur or new veins appear in the long term.

The doctor will be able to assess your requirements and give guidance at the initial consultation.

Does it hurt?

Removing visible facial spider or thread veins is now virtually painless with the latest laser treatments.

What results would I see?

The thread veins would be banished, revealing clearer-looking skin.

Can I return to work and normal activities?

In most cases ‘yes’.

Are there any side-effects from the thread vein treatment?

You may experience some redness or flushing after treatment. This usually settles in a day or two.

Rarely some pigmentation can be left in the treatment area, but again this usually settles and is generally far less noticeable than the veins were.

Are thread vein removal treatments available on the NHS?

No it is classed as a cosmetic treatment and therefore not covered on the NHS.

What should I expect after treatment?

Patients often experience some redness afterwards from a few days to 1-2 weeks according to how many veins are needed to be treated and those with fairer skin types typically take a bit longer to recover.

Lots of moisturising is advised afterwards and application of sunblock is vital to protect the skin after treatment.

My 5 year old son has a tiny pin sized burst blood vessel at the tip of his nose. Is this dangerous? Will it grow? Is it difficult or painful to remove?

Thanks in advance for any info you can give

    1. Unfortunately we are unable to treat patients under the age of 18 and would need to refer you to the NHS for consultation or treatment. To reassure you, this sort of burst blood vessel is normally medically harmless but it should probably be seen by your doctor for monitoring or referral as appropriate. If it does need to be removed for cosmetic reasons, it is usually done using a cautery laser device, which is normally done under local anaesthetic. However, would normally not be carried out until your son is older. As always, advice given on our website should be treated as general advice, as we have not seen the patient.

  2. hi i have some visible veins in my nose that i would like to get rid of. can you tell me how, the cost, and where? is any place arond london for that? thanks

    1. Our doctors would normally treat this using a laser cautery device at any of our clinics. Costs are normally £160-£250 and treatment can be done the same day as the consultation. Our London clinics are in Harley Street, Putney, City of London and Knightsbridge.

  3. Dear Clinic,

I would like to know, those pictures (before after) are yours? Is it own, because I found these photo on the other clinic page too. So before I book appointment, just I really want to know this. I would like to rid of my nose veins, and I want to choose the right place for it. Thank you so much. Brigitta

    1. The before/after photos were all supplied by our doctors and show the results that can be attained with the treatments we use on our patients. Not all patients are necessarily guaranteed to achieve the same results but in most cases the results are excellent and patients are happy they had it done. Some of these images are also featured on http://www.veintreatmentcentre.co.uk, which is another website for the same company. If they appear anywhere else, then we’d be grateful if you could let us know so that we can look into it.

  4. I have veins on the side of my nose and mouth that I would like treated. What is the cost? Also availability of appointments in Harley Street or Knightsbridge?

    1. Facial thread vein removal starts at £160, although this is just a guide – prices will be confirmed at consultation. If you’d like a more accurate estimate in advance, you can email a photo in confidence to info@cosmedics.co.uk. This doesn’t replace a proper consultation with a doctor but can be helpful. Our appointments team will get in touch regarding availability via email, or else feel free to call us on 020 7386 0464.
