An eye lift is a surgical procedure which works to rejuvenate the delicate eye area by removing excess skin in order to create a ‘lift’.

What is eyelid (blepharoplasty) surgery?

Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is cosmetic surgery to remove excess skin or fat from around the eyelids to give the eyes a natural, fresher looking finish. People often get eyelid surgery to reduce the look of sagging, or swollen looking eyelids to improve self-confidence as well as medical-related issues with helping them to see better. Eyelid surgery, blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure which works to rejuvenate the delicate eye area removing excess skin and giving the eye a lifting result. Surgery can be performed on both the upper and lower lid.

What eyelid surgery treats

  • Loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural fold of the upper eyelid
  • Fatty deposits that create puffiness in the eyelids
  • Bags under the eyes
  • Drooping lower eyelids
  • Excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid

Upper Blepharoplasty Eye Lift Surgery

The eyes are often the first to show signs of age and with time, sagging skin can become quite a problem. Fine lines become wrinkles and then deep creases until the eyes take on a tired, hooded or droopy appearance. Now Cosmedics Skin Clinics is offering upper eyelid surgery in order to tackle this problem.

Non-surgical treatments such as BOTOX® or dermal fillers can be helpful in refreshing the eye area but do not tackle excess skin.

The Effect of Eyelid Surgery

The effect of eyelid surgery to make people look younger and less tired or angry. It is a great choice for patients over the age of 45, where the signs of ageing are becoming established. There is no need to worry about it looking too dramatic or fake. Our surgeons use sympathetic techniques designed for a subtle yet very effective impact.

Surgical Eyelid Surgery

Surgery is thought of as being invasive, but with our expert surgeons it is far more accessible than before: A blepharoplasty can be done under a local anaesthetic injected into the eyelids or under general anaesthetic. The operation takes up to an hour and a half.

Your surgeon will make a cut in the natural skin crease of your upper eyelid or below your eyelashes in your lower lid. They will remove any excess skin and fat and close the wound using very fine stitches.

  • Local anaesthetic – better tolerated and lower risks than general
  • No overnight stay – more convenient than a hospital
  • Fast recovery – bruising lasts up to 10 days
  • A simple walk in walk out procedure
  • Takes 30 – 60 minutes
  • Longer lasting than injections or laser – excess skin gone for good

Recovery from blepharoplasty surgery

If you have local anaesthetic under your blepharoplasty treatment you should be able to go home a few hours after the procedure. If you have general anaesthetic you will need to wait until all the effects have worn off. You may need pain relief when the anaesthetic wears off to help with the bruising and swelling.
