If you have an irritating fleshy piece of skin that sticks out the chances are this is a skin tag. These are harmless but can be annoying and patients’ often just want to get rid of them as they are often in visible areas such as face, eyelids, neck, underarm and groin.

Most skin tags are 2-3mm in size and larger skin tags (papillomas) can reach 5mm or more .

If you are unsure about any new or changing skin lesions having a skin check with a doctor may be a good idea.

Skin Tag Removal costs from only £195

The NHS considers skin tags cosmetic and therefore does not offer treatments.

At Cosmedics our doctors are happy to help with a range of treatment options that can remove the skin tags in one appointment. These include cryotherapy (freezing), surgical excision or laser treatment. We also offer anal skin tag and vaginal skin tag removal.

Please call us on 0207 386 0464 – we are happy to help.

Patient Review

I just wanted to write a quick note of thanks to your team in Bristol. I recently attended the surgery to have several skin tags removed and found the process so quick, painless and effective that I have already been back to have more removed. I would recommend their services to anyone.

Doctor Consultation

We charge £50 for a skin tag consultation with one of our experienced doctors.
Prices for treatments carried out in the same appointment as the consultation will include the £50 consultation fee (note: same day procedures are only undertaken where the procedure is deemed appropriate to do so AND the patient understands the full extent of the costs, risks and potential side effects and is consenting to proceed on that knowledge).

Histology/Testing

* We may advise patients to have their skin lesions sent for histology / testing. We charge the lowest prices possible for histology as we realise patients often feel it is not required, but occasionally rare or suspicious things are detected early on in lesions that can look normal, which is why this is good practice. We make no financial gain from this service.

Histology / testing of the removed skin lesion is mandatory if the Doctor recommends it to ensure there are no abnormalities. The doctor will clarify this at the consultation and may refuse to do the treatment if the client refuses the histology recommendation or else ask the client to sign a document stating they went against the Doctors advice.

Any test results or correspondence will be sent to your email account via an encrypted system called Egress. Should this not be preferable, please let us know at your appointment.

Cryotherapy / Freezing

For small skin tags, cryotherapy or freezing treatment is a quick cheap option but can mean the tag has a few days of hanging around before it falls off.

Excison / Laser

The skin tag can be excised / snipped off under local anaesthetic to ensure the tag has gone and wont recurr. This is the best for  all types of skin tags, small, difficult areas, large tags or numerous skin tags.

Treatment is available privately in all our London and Bristol clinics.  It is not available on the NHS.

Where do Skin Tags Occur?

Skin tags are common in neck, underarms, groin and eye areas that are simply a result of areas of skin rubbing and creating small excess tags of skin.

Why are they a problem?

Skin tags treatment tends to be only necessary if they are cosmetically causing you discomfort.

They can often be unsightly or embarrassing as well as catching on clothes and getting irritated.

Lydia is absolutely superb in giving a caci treatment. My very first treatment was with her a a one-off and due to the excellent result I booked a series of caci treatments in Southampton where I live. I’ve also had treatments in Scotland whilst on holiday there and I am very impressed by Lydia’s treatments. She is also very animated and friend,y without being intrusive when I feel like being quiet. I would thoroughly recommend her caci treatment.

I had a growth removed near my nose via shave excision by Dr Rhys James in the Bristol clinic. He was very calm and friendly and really put me at ease, the procedure didn't hurt at all. I had the growth sent for a histology and got the results back within two weeks and am healing well. Highly recommend!

I had a hydrafacial with Georgia and absolutely loved it. Not only was Georgia a lovely girl but performed one of the best hydrafacials I’ve had yet. She included my neck which not many places do and when I asked her to focus on my chin area, she payed extra attention there. Thanks Georgia!

    1. We offer laser or sclerotherapy injections for thread veins, depending on the type and location of your veins. For more information see our page on thread vein removal. If you wish to book a consultation please call 020 7386 0464 or email info@cosmedics.co.uk to book. A consultation fee of £50 applies, which is redeemable against the price of treatment.

  1. Hi – Is cryotherapy an option for tags near the eye (close to the lower lash line) or would that be excision only? If excision, does that fall into the large/complex category? I’m considering my options… Thank you 🙂

    1. Our doctors have treated skin tags close to the eye area and may be able to help. Would you please send a photo in confidence to info@cosmedics.co.uk. We’ll ask Dr Ross Perry to advise on the best course of treatment. This doesn’t replace a consultation, but should give you a very good idea of what to expect.

    1. Hi Kylie, we can arrange that in any of our skin clinics. We have four clinics based in London plus one in Bristol. http://www.cosmedics.co.uk/skin-clinics/. There is a skin consultation fee of £50 which is redeemable against the price of treatment carried out at the same appointment. I will ask our team to get in touch. You can also email info@cosmedics.co.uk or call 020 7386 0464 if you wish to book direct.

  2. I recently had hemorrhoid surgery for a very small hemorrhoid the doctor insisted on removing but it had never caused me a problem. Now I have been left with a large anal skin tag that has gone hard.It is bothering me a lot, I cannot face going back to him. Can this be removed with cryotherapy, or would it have to be surgery.?

    1. Dr Ross Perry advises that it would be surgery. Cryotherapy is not advisable for this. The best option is to wait for 2-3 months as the lump will usually soften although probably not go. Then you can decide if you still want the remaining tag removed.
