Brow Lift FAQ: Questions & Answers

When is a surgical brow lift better than non-surgical?

Non-surgical facelifts and brow lifts can achieve remarkable results using BOTOX and dermal fillers.

However, a surgical brow lift goes a step further be removing a narrow section of loose skin, so that a smoother and more youthful look can be created.

How much will it hurt?

The procedure itself is pain-free thanks to use of anaesthetic. After this wears off, we advise patients to expect mild discomfort for around 3-5 days. This is normally manageable with standard painkillers

Do I have to have stitches?

Yes, this procedure does require stitches to close the wound where the skin has been removed. These will be removed 5-7 days later in our clinics at no additional cost

Do I need to have time off work?

Most patients will take a few days off to avoid being seen with stitches and swelling/bruising – but you don’t have to

Can I shower and wash afterwards?

Yes, you’ll need to keep the area very clean while avoiding risk of damaging the wound. We will recommend suitable products and regimes.

Can I exercise after brow lift?

We request no exercise for the first 1-2 weeks, to enable swelling and bruising to subside

What will swelling or bruising look like?

Patients can expect swelling for 3-5 days and bruising 7-10 days. Cold compresses and ice packs can be helpful in handling this

Will it look natural?

Our brow lift procedure is designed to look very natural. This is not a full face lift, which means that only the upper forehead area is addressed. This means that there is no risk of an overstretched ‘wind tunnel’ results that many of us would rather avoid. A natural yet effective result is the objective here.

Will I still be able to move my eyebrows?

Yes, you should definitely retain some movement in the forehead area. This may be less for the first few days while the area is swollen, but should be back to normal after the first week

Can I get a brow lift AND a eyelid lift?

Yes, the brow lift procedure works very well alongside an eyelid lift for a more holistic result.

At your consultation, your surgeon will advise on whether it’s best to have both at once or stage the procedures in two separate sessions.
