More about Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are an injectable product specifically to fill out lines and wrinkles of the face that are caused by the effects of ageing.

Our patients love the filler results that give them a natural lift and fullness to their face that makes them look fresher and younger.

The dermal fillers are injected into the the top layers of the skin to fill out the areas of depleted collagen that has worn away with the constant creasing in certain areas of the face. The main areas that fillers treat are the nose to mouth lines (nasolabial folds) , mouth lines, cheek lines, frown lines and eye lines. Higher grade filler can also be used to enhance cheeks, chins and reshape the nose (non surgical rhinoplasty).

The beauty of non-permanent fillers is that they can be added to gradually with time so the facial structure is able to be naturally enhanced as the ageing process occurs.

Dermal fillers by doctors – best outcomes and safety

All our non surgical injections to fill out the lines and deeper wrinkles of the face with dermal facial fillers at Cosmedics are carried out by registered doctors with years of experience – never nurses or beauticians. Our prices are not that much more expensive than cheaper salons but you are guaranteed peace of mind for a professional treatment. These are medical procedures and as such should be done in a safe infection free environment by experts who can professionally assess your suitability.

We pride ourselves on not overselling any product or treatment and offer impartial honest advise about the best treatments available that are age appropriate.

Dermal Filler Brands

We use the latest Juvederm and Restylane filler product ranges with local anaesthetic so the treatments are now much quicker and virtually pain free.  Should patients have a low threshold for pain or worried about needles don’t worry we specially import the smallest needles (size of a hair) and special ‘numbing creams’ to ensure comfortable stress free experience.

Restylane and Juvederm are the market leaders in the field of cosmetic injection treatments known as wrinkle fillers or dermal fillers. These anti-ageing treatments are available at all our clinics and are ideal for removing the lines from the skin on the face:

  • Nose to mouth lines, cheek lines, frown and eye lines
  • Lip lines and lip enhancement

Restylane is a hyaluronic acid gel used in facial injections to rejuvenate ageing skin. It is perfectly safe and has been used for many years for facial rejuvenation. Occasionally we use Perlane for deeper lines and folds, particularly in men. Juvederm ultra is ideal for a softer look in younger patients.

Fillers and BOTOX® can also be used together to create a full non surgical face lift.

Dermal Filler FAQs

Do facial fillers help the removal of wrinkles?

Facial fillers like Restylane and Juvederm Ultra injections are an ideal anti-wrinkle treatment for facial rejuvenation and anti-ageing. Ideally for anyone wanting to have some removal of lines by filling them out  especially for the nose to mouth area, crow’s feet (lines around the eyes) or lines around the mouth. Many patients also choose to have this filler treatment to plump up thin upper lips, restoring a nice youthful look. Patients who would like to redefine and soften the contours of their face also turn to dermal fillers as the results are so natural and subtle.

How soon will I see results?

After the procedure the filler results are immediate and you can see the full rejuvenated results of your skin that same day. Often our patients say their friends comment on how well they look and less tired as well as a little younger.

What is the best facial filler to use?

There are lots of different types of filler that are used for filling out lines; each has different benefits and effects.

Restylane and Perlane

These are our most popular alternatives to collagen replacement therapy and do not require an initial 28-day skin test. Restylane and Perlane are dermal fillers consisting of a non-animal clear gel that will help smooth your wrinkles and folds and create contours. It can also be used to provide lip enhancement if required. Restylane and Perlane will generally remain in the treated area for some months following your treatment, giving it natural-looking volume and contours. Restylane is used for fine lines whilst Perlane is used for deeper wrinkles and folds.

Juvederm Ultra

Another natural facial line filler with the advantage of built-in anaesthetic for a more comfortable experience. It does not last as long as restylane but does give a softer look and is particularly useful for our younger patients.

Are filler injections painful?

The injections are now used with anaesthetic in the actual filler to ensure that the treatments are not painful. For certain procedures numbing cream can also be applied that maybe in more sensitive areas such as the mouth and lips.

How long will it take to administer the facial fillers?

Depending on the area treated, approximately 30 to 45 minutes.

What results can I expect from facial fillers like Restylane or Juvederm?

The results will be immediate. Your skin will be smoother and younger-looking. Once any swelling has subsided the results will be subtle and pleasing. See our before and after results.

Are there any side-effects from having these anti-wrinkle rejuvenation treatments?

With dermal fillers there can be redness, swelling and bruising, which is normal and which does subside.

Can I go straight back to work?

Yes. There will be a little redness, slight swelling and occasionally a small bruise that may last 1 to 2 days. These can all be covered with make-up.

Can fillers for the face be used with Botox®?

Yes, sometimes to create the best effect they can be used together. Botox injections.

How much do dermal fillers cost?

See our price tab for latest information.  Prices are subject to consultation and depend on the area to be treated, amount of fillers used and brand recommended.

How easy is it to get these treatments done?

Once you have made a booking your consultation will be with one of our doctors. You will be able to discuss all the treatment options and decide what is the best procedure for you. Facial filler treatments can be done at the same initial appointment, if you are happy to go ahead, by the same doctor.

What else can fillers be used for?

The hyaluronic acid gel that is made by cross linking to ensure the longevity and durability also enables this product to be used for medical purposes outside of cosmetic medicine. Examples of such are for back pain where the gel is re injected into the disc of a old vertebral disc to help increase the disc space between the bones of the back so they don’t rub and irritate the surrounding nerves that cause the pain.  Filler injections are also used for areas where knee cartilage has worn away through over use or injury. Rare uses are for clitoral stimulation or vaginal rejuvenation or in some cases to help with bladder incontinence by raising the neck of the bladder upwards. Trials have also been ongoing for anal fistulas but have not had a great deal of success so far.

I’ve had Botox a few times but it doesn’t get rid of my wrinkles under my eyes .

    1. Hi Rebecca, dermal filler consultations with our doctors are completely free provided you have treatment in the same appointment. There’s no obligation. Please call 020 7386 0464 to book.

  3. i have fine wrinkles and and what looks like small opened pores or small pitted skin, round the mouth area where i smile. i dont want the roller treatment, what treatment would you recommend to help improve my skin and how much will it cost?

    1. Hi, our price for nose to mouth lines using Juvederm is £360. All prices are subject to confirmation after meeting you at consultation. Our consultations are without obligation. Please call 020 7386 0464 or email our team on info@cosmedics.co.uk.

    1. Hello, A consultation with one of our dermal fillers doctors costs £50, but that is redeemable against any treatment cost undertaken at the same appointment (the consultation would be effectively free of charge in this case). To book or else to discuss any specific queries, please call 020 7386 0464 or email our team on info@cosmedics.co.uk.

    1. There will be some minor swelling for a few hours afterwards which can be covered after an hour with makeup. Most patients prefer to return to work the next day.

  4. I was just wondering whether you do fillers to make the nose more in harmony with your face. I have a slight hump in which concerns me. I would also like the nose lifted in possible

    Thank you

    1. We may be able to make some improvements to the contour of the nose with dermal fillers. Every case is different here. Please send a photo to info@cosmedics.co.uk and we can try to advise further. Alternatively, you are welcome to make an appointment with one of our aesthetic doctors, which is free of charge when you have treatment on the same day and a good opportunity to discuss your concerns face to face.

  5. It is now time for another Botox treatment, but am now on Warfarin. The previous doctor I used for Botox wants me to temporary stop using Warfarin, but my GP has said definitely no and she cannot understand why this doctor is insisting on this and questioned what has Botox got to do with Warfarin – people have teeth removed when on Warfarin which I must agree as I have had extensive dental treatment and my Dentist was well aware of me taking Warfarin without any concerns.

I have been online and the general consensus amongst doctors is it is OK to use Botox with Warfarin, but it is important to ensure the doctor uses a 30-gauge needle (or thinner) and is experienced in this procedure. Please advise

    1. Botox has no interaction with Warfarin. The only risk is that you may bruise slightly more than usual as a result of the treatment, as you are probably aware. It is very important to stay on the Warfarin as your GP advises.

    1. This is a very individual area and it depends on the current shape of your nose and what you’re looking to achieve. We recommend a face to face consultation with our expert doctors, or else you can send a photo to info@cosmedics.co.uk and we can try to advise further, giving you honest and sensible advice on the best course of action.

  6. Im 67 yrs old. Ive had alot of treatments done in tje past face fillers. Face lifts. Not im wanting a lot of fillers in my face i have ket it all go. Please look at a photo. & advice me

  7. I recently had dermal filler (Juvederm Voluma) for the treatment of a gummy smile (I was hesitant about having botox because botox is not reversible). However I am unhappy with the results with the dermal filler and can see almost no difference. I would now like to try botox. As this will be in the same area, could there be any interaction between the products?

    1. There is no risk of having Botox in the same area and you should see a better result than fillers, as Botox works to limit the muscle movement which causes gummy smile. For the first time, we would use a slightly below normal dose to trial it. Results do wear off after a few months and the treatment can then be repeated.

  8. How long do Restyleane fillers last on nose to mouth area? Does the “from £300” quote refer to one side of face or are both nose to mouth areas counted as one treatment?

    1. Dr Perry advises that Restylane lasts 9-12 months minimum. The quote ‘from £300’ is based on half a syringe. The average required to treat nose to mouth lines (both sides) is 1.5 – 2 syringes. We estimate a cost between £500-550 for this treatment.
Consultations for aesthetic treatments are free when you have treatment on the same day and prices will be properly confirmed at this point, after examination by our Aesthetic Doctors. Please call 020 7386 0464 or email info@cosmedics.co.uk if you’d like to book an appointment.

  9. Hello, do you do Biorevitalization (face and eye area)? Usually it would be one a week for a month and then one for month.
    Thanks, regards.

    1. Hi, we don’t do that precise treatment. However, we offer a mesotherapy facial which utilises advanced microneedling treatment to prepare the skin followed by application of Hyaluronic Acid. This is available at our Putney clinic.

  10. Hello! Do you do dermal fillers in neck/jaw area to even out the face shape? How much the whole thing would cost if yes, including consultation and roughly the procedure price.

    1. Hi, Dr Ross Perry advises:

No we tend not to use dermal fillers in the jaw or neck area to alter shape but BOTOX® can be used to slim the face by reducing the jaw muscles size and also create a better definition of the jaw using the nefertiti lift with BOTOX®.

What our patients say

What are Face Fillers?

Face fillers are the second most common anti-ageing injectable treatment after botox. Dermal fillers are different from Botox in that rather than relaxing out the wrinkles they fill out the lines, wrinkles and lift the face. The face fillers are made from a natural gel that literally fills out any depressions, hollows and creases in the facial skin. These fillers, when positioned in certain areas such as the cheeks and jowls, can create a lifting of the face that is both subtle and natural-looking. They can also be used to plump up lips and correct any symmetry of facial areas as well as help with tired-looking eyes or ‘tear troughs’. The face filler lift effects can not only make you look younger but also more rested and fresh-faced.

Dermal Fillers London

Cosmedics only have experienced doctors and plastic surgeons offering dermal fillers in our London and Bristol clinics. We only use face fillers that are the FDA approved range of natural dissolvable fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane. This ensures that patients who see us know their safety is our number one priority above all else. People who request filler treatments have often tried Botox with great success and then feel that other areas of the face are showing telltale signs of ageing.

People like the rejuvenating effects of dermal fillers for the face as the before and after results are immediately visible, unlike Botox which can take 7-10 days to appear. There is little swelling and possible bruising in the areas where the dermal fillers were injected that settles down and fade within a few days and can be covered with makeup.

Face Fillers Procedure

The dermal filler injections take 30-45 minutes and you can carry on your normal activities straight after but would maybe plan your diary ao you gave any major events for a few days after to let the best results be visible.

At Cosmedics we have treated over 12000 patients with face fillers and have a wealth of expertise that enables us to help you achieve the facial appearance you are aiming for without compromising on safety or our honest opinion on whether face fillers are the right treatment for you. Our dedicated advisors have a huge knowledge about fillers so you can discuss with them how you feel and what interests you.

The cost for face fillers starts from £380 and they tend to last for at least a year so while they can be more expensive than Botox the overall cost is comparable given how long they last and also has the added benefit of needing less frequent injections. If you would like to find out more and seek professional advice, get in touch with our friendly team today and we will talk you through the journey.
