Dr-Ross-Perry-Cosmedics-Skin-Clinics.jpgBlemishes on the skin are very common. Often it is nothing to worry about; but it is very important to be vigilant and get anything unusual diagnosed properly first.

Anything suspicious needs fast diagnosis and early treatment for the best results. If there is any concern relating to skin cancer, then referral through the NHS is generally very good and appropriate treatment can be started quickly as it is vital to try to stop any spread of disease.

However, if it is a harmless lump or bump, then the NHS will give you that information to put your mind at rest. Then you can decide whether or not to get it removed privately.

Dr Perry explains:

“Most of our patients have seen their GP for the odd lump or bump that they are reassured is not a worry.

“Unfortunately, NHS is not able to treat them unless they are of medical concern.”

Don’t Allow Cysts To Grow

Expert Advice from Dr Ross Perry

Dr Perry explains that it is best to get treatment earlier rather than later. This stops it from getting any bigger and therefore reduces the risk of infection. It also gives a better chance of a good result, as larger blemishes are more likely to leave a scar. Ross continues:

“These type of lumps and bumps are often sebaceous cysts that if left can grow and sometimes can then get infected or burst under the skin that causes them to swell.

“We are seeing more patients with larger cysts and more that are infected which are more difficult to treat and leave a larger scar as people are tending to leave them longer before seeking an opinion for removal especially now that NHS limits what it can treat.”

When To Seek Attention For Sebaceous Cysts & Lumps

Ross advises:

“Our advice would be to remove any growing lump or bump especially if it is around 1-2 cm in size as this the optimal size to get a complete removal and minimal scar.”

Cyst Removal Doctors & Surgeons

Removal of sebaceous cysts, lipoma and other cyst-related growths is a treatment which is frequently carried out at Cosmedics’ London clinics, especially now that many patients are refused treatment on the NHS, being classed as a ‘cosmetic’ issue. Their doctors and surgeons are trained to provide pain-free and efficient removal of all kinds of cysts. There are a number of attractive benefits to this private service:

  • Fast and efficient treatment
  • Choice of clinics in London
  • No waiting lists
  • Treatment can be same day as consultation if patient and doctor agree
  • Pain-free thanks to local anaesthetic
  • Treatment includes careful removal of the cyst sac in order to minimise the risk of recurrence
  • Minimal-scarring techniques, so after healing, the scar is rarely noticeable at all
