7 Beauty Products Experts Use (That You Don’t Know About)

Advice from Dr Ross Perry

Website Byrdie.com features Celebrity beauty secrets, insider tips from hairstylists and makeup artists, beauty news, and product reviews.

Their feature 7 Beauty Products… (That You Don’t Know About) looks at the skin industry’s insiders’ recommendations for great skin.

As the article explains:

“Who knows more about clear skin and flawless complexions than dermatologists? That’s right: nobody. It’s quite literally their job to know about all the best skincare products and the latest perfecting ingredients.

“So given the heap of knowledge they’ve all amassed over the years, we decided to tap a few of our favourite derms in the beauty business to find out just what they use on their own skin.

“As expected, the result is a shopping list of the finest little-known skincare products, plus the best-kept secrets to clear, radiant skin every day.”

Doublebase Gel – Recommended by Dr Ross Perry

Dr Ross Perry is one of the experts giving advice on skincare products and he advises Doublebase Gel based on personal experience of the product, saying:

“There are creams for everyday use, and as somebody with dry skin and no time in the mornings, Doublebase Gel is my favourite – super cheap, easy to apply and it works all day.”

About Doublebase Gel

Doublebase Gel contains two active ingredients – emollients isopropyl myristate (15% w/w) and liquid paraffin (15% w/w). It also contains glycerol, carbomer, sorbitan laurate, trolamine, phenoxyethanol and purified water.

The product is designed to help treat dry or chapped skin conditions including itchy, red and sore skin. Product directions suggest that it can be used for conditions including psoriasis (scaly, pink patches of skin), elderly pruritus (itchy skin due to ageing), ichthyosis (abnormal scaly skin), various forms of eczema, dermatitis and other dry skin disorders. Doublebase Gel can help in two key ways:

  • Soften, moisturise and protect your skin by trapping moisture in the skin and restoring the normal protective function of the skin
  • Prevent the skin-drying and irritant effects that can be caused by washing and bathing and by the soaps, foaming additives and fragrances used in ordinary cleansing products
