Microcurrent Anti-Ageing Home Treatments
Could Non-Invasive Devices Restore Radiance and Firmness
Expert Advice Dr Ross Perry
As the pre-Christmas beauty device market booms, Stylist asked Dr Ross Perry to provide his medical opinion on the microcurrent devices that can be bought for use at home.
The article explains:
“…celebrities and dermatologists have extolled the benefits of low-level electrical currents for overall skin health. From increased radiance to plumper and firmer skin, there’s a lot to be said for using microcurrent devices.”
Microcurrent devices use a low level current of electricity to stimulate the facial muscles and circulation. The idea is that this helps in promoting firmer and more radiant skin. It can be described as a type of non-invasive facelift.
In the same way as regular exercise is required to build body muscle, regular use of these devices is necessary to see best results in improving the face.
Stylist magazine asked Cosmedics’ founder and Medical Director Dr Ross Perry for his expert input. He explained:
“This is a treatment where you will see a marginal improvement after one session, but this should be used frequently for maximum benefit.
“People tend to use this as a form of anti-ageing. Sagging skin, fine lines and general loss of tautness in the facial muscles will see a benefit from regular use. If the skin is looking lacklustre and tired, it will also help overall skin texture by boosting circulation, encouraging the muscles to work harder whilst stimulating collagen and boosting elastin production.”
The stylist article listed a number of devices and suggested what you may need to pay for them, although didn’t give a review, rating or direction on which is best.
