Nd:YAG Laser Thread Vein Treatment for Legs
£395
Thread veins or spider veins are quite common on the legs. They are not a medical concern but can spoil the appearance.
Laser treatment is ideal for the treatment of smaller thread veins on the legs.
Prominent red, purple or blue veins on legs can be successfully treated with the advanced skin system’s long-pulsed Nd:YAG tracking of the veins until they blanch.
State-of-the-art laser treatment is exclusively available at Cosmedics Skin Clinics with the Harmony XL Pro:
Treatment is quick and pain-free. Laser light works beneath the skin to shrink and destroy the tiny red blood vessels at the skin’s surface.
The treatment is designed to tackle smaller thread veins. For more severe thread veins, injections and microcautery treatment are also available.

They tend to arrive with age – over 70% of women over 70 have thread veins – and although they can have no apparent cause a tendency to thread veins seems to be an inherited trait.
They can also be associated with hormonal changes and exposure to the sun, wind and cold.
Any potential side effects are generally far less noticeable than the veins. You may experience the following:
At Cosmedics Skin Clinics, all treatments are carried out by medically qualified individuals i.e. doctors and surgeons. Thread vein treatment is carried out to high clinical standards by experienced professionals.
Yes, most clients go straight back to normal activities. There is no need for any dressings.
You will be fully advised of any aftercare requirements at your consultation.
Results generally last at least a few years and sometimes forever. However, in some cases, they can recur or new veins appear due to the skin’s natural tendency to form these veins. At this point, further treatment can be arranged if necessary to tackle any new veins.
Thread vein removal laser treatment is available at our top London clinics:
We recommend minimising any sun exposure after laser treatment, as excessive sun exposure after laser can hinder healing and cause hyperpigmentation.
If you must go in the sun, cover up with clothing where possible i.e. trousers/long skirts/dresses. Apply a high SPF sunscreen, stay in the shade and keep out of the sun during its peak hours.
When treating enlarged veins with the Nd:Yag laser, some patients may experience mild swelling and possibly some bruising. This may last up to 2 weeks.
Some patients suffer no side-effects at all. Your doctor/surgeon will tell you what to expect at your consultation appointment.
Sclerotherapy injections are a good treatment option for well-defined leg veins, but laser is ideal for smaller veins, as these can be harder to isolate for an injection. Laser treatment doesn’t break the surface of the skin, it simply targets the darker colour i.e. thread veins.
For many patients, just one session is sufficient to get rid of the thread veins. However, for larger areas or more stubborn thread veins, a course of 2-3 sessions may be recommended for optimal results. Subsequent treatment sessions are approximately 1 session per month. In some circumstances, more sessions may be needed. We can also provide ‘maintenance’ sessions in the future if required.
