Cosmedics Skin Clinics has announced a new service for improving the shape and appearance of stretched, saggy or split earlobes.

Many patients are unhappy with their earlobes. Sometimes the issue may be a genetic tendency to a certain shape and dimension, but more often, the problem is ‘self-inflicted’, such as damage caused by heavy earrings, extensive piercings, multiple piercings or more recently the trend for tribal ear piercings/flesh tunnels which stretch the earlobe quite considerably. The problem usually develops over several years of daily pressure, stretching the lobe so that it starts to look saggy and deformed.

Another problem that may present is split or torn earlobe – a condition that can occur if there is an incident wearing unprotected earrings while playing sport. A collision or similar accident can put pressure on the earlobe, enlarging it or even literally ripping the earlobe so that the piercing becomes a long slit.

The problem is very hard to disguise especially for those with short hair.

Earlobe Repair Surgery

Now Dr Ross Perry at Cosmedics Skin Clinics is launching a new procedure for those wishing to improve the appearance of their earlobes.

Earlobe repair is a minor surgical procedure which is designed to reshape the earlobes for a neater and more aesthetically pleasing look by addressing the holes/splits that have developed:

  • close or reduce extended earlobe holes
  • repair split earlobes

Although this is a surgical procedure, it can be carried out in clinic using only local anaesthetic, so there’s no need to worry about visits to hospital. It involves using a scalpel to carefully remove skin and flesh around the split or enlarged hole. The flesh is then drawn together into a much tighter shape using stitches to secure it while it heals.

Earlobe repair is a relatively quick procedure and generally takes no more than an hour including the consultation. Prices start at £750 for one earlobe (from £1,200 for two).
