Look Magazine: The Contour Crisis
‘Is Kim Kardashian trend ruining our skin?’
Look Magazine’s latest beauty feature explores whether contouring makeup could be causing skin problems such as acne, breakouts and spots.
Writer Chloe Burcham says:
“It turns out congested skin problems are on the up – and contouring makeup tools could be to blame.”
Professionals have reported an increase in skin congestion problems, particularly on the cheeks and especially affecting younger clients who are big users of foundation and contouring products.
Dr Ross Perry provided expert advice on how cosmetic products can affect the skin. He advised:
“Heavy creams and contour products can lead to congested skin – especially on the tops of cheeks and around the cheekbone area.
“Putting any kind of thick ointment on your face is a recipe for disaster, as it doesn’t let your skin breathe and then can ultimately lead to breakouts.”
Look Magazine Advice
Look Magazine gives advice on how to help congested skin:
“There are things you can do to help your skin from having a contour crisis.
“First things first – look for products that are non-comedogenic. This basically means that they won’t clog your pores.
“Secondly, Nichola Joss, Decleor skincare expert and celebrity facialist, advises a double cleanse ‘to make sure every last bit of makeup is removed’
“And finally, don’t layer up thick, heavy creams overnight as they may exacerbate the problem. Instead, reach for light serums that can penetrate the skin more easily.”
