Bella Magazine: Don’t let sweating get you down
Keep Cool and Confident
Dr Ross Perry in the media
Cosmedics Skin Clinics’ founder Dr Ross Perry was invited to provide expert advice for Bella magazine’s summer feature on sweating.
Bella magazine introduced the issue of excessive sweating:
‘Are you irritated by women who always look fresh no matter how warm it is or how busy they are, while you’re often hot and sweaty?’
Sweatiness is viewed negatively in modern-day culture, especially in women. As the article says:
‘The time to seek medical help is if you sweat excessively not just in summer or when you’re exercising, but all year round and for no apparent reason. You may have a condition called hyperhidrosis.’
Hyperhidrosis is a very annoying condition which may not have any known cause.
Treatment options include stronger antiperspirants containing aluminium chloride, which are applied at night; or a course of iontophoresis treatments twice a week, which is thought to work by thickening up the skin in order to close sweat glands.
Botox for Sweating
Botox is another option, which in just one session can achieve dramatic results. Dr Ross Perry was invited to explain more about the treatment:
“My patients call it a lifesaver. It takes just 15 minutes and the results last, on average, 5-6 months. There’s a 95% success rate and some patients may need fewer treatments as time goes by.”
