It is a number of years since this eagerly awaited product was announced, but it is finally set to launch in the UK.

Dr Ross Perry, Founder and Medical Director, is set to be among the first practitioners to offer the innovative treatment for double chin reduction and the ‘flab jab’ is set to be available at all of the company’s London clinics very soon.

What is BELKYRA®?

Also known as ‘Kybella’ in the USA, this product is an injectable treatment which is designed and licensed specifically for the treatment of double chins, or fat beneath the chin area known as ‘submental fat’.

BELKYRA® is based on deoxycholic acid, a substance which is already produced naturally in the body. The function of deoxycholic acid is to help the body to absorb fat.

With BELKYRA® treatment, the injection of the fat-absorption agent literally destroys the fat cells, breaking down deposits of excess fat in the area.

The result is a smoother and leaner profile and results are long-lasting, as once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.

Treatment has a high success rate at reducing fat and high patient satisfaction with noticeable reduction in the amount of fat under the chin. Studies have also shown an improvement in the emotional impact of receiving treatment, as it is an issue many had felt self-conscious about.

Double Chin Treatment

Fat under the chin can affect both men and women of any age. It is not necessarily linked to excess weight as the area is often resistant to diet and exercise. It can be genetic, related to anatomy and also connected to the general ageing process.

Until BELKYRA® (Kybella), treatment options for submental fullness have been either surgical options such as liposuction, non-surgical treatments using handheld devices or aggressive weight-loss regimens with potentially limited improvement.

Most patients have been left to simply ‘put up with it’.

Now the double chin injections provide a fast and effective option.
