Genital / Vaginal Skin Tags

Certain areas of the body where the skin naturally folds can commonly become affected by skin tags. This can be very embarrassing if they appear on the face or neck, but perhaps the most embarrassing location is in the vaginal or genital area.

This can be especially common among pregnant women. While generally hidden, vaginal skin tags have their own problems, such as being easily irritated by clothing. When having skin tags removed from this area, privacy is an additional factor that needs to be considered.

Most people prefer to find a way to deal with skin tags in private areas in their homes. Be warned, however, that diagnosing oneself is not always the best idea. For those who aren't familiar with skin tags, it may be possible to confuse them with the symptoms of another disease such as genital warts.

Anal skin tags are often quite common due to the resolution of a pile or haemorrhoid that leaves a fleshy piece of skin around the edge of the anus. This can often be annoying and get irritated. Unfortunately surgery is the only way to remove them. This can in lesions that are still part of a haemorrhoid or encroach the entrance to the anus are best done under general anaesthetic with a colorectal surgeon. These need to be assessed properly and in some cases are quite simple to do under local anaesthetic that same day.
