The appearance of certain sebaceous hyperplasia may look very similar to basal cell carcinoma, a much more serious condition. If there is any doubt or concern, the lesion will be sent away for testing. Patients will be informed of the result as quickly as possible. The vast majority of sebaceous hyperplasia are completely harmless, but we always err on the side of caution with regard to any testing.
