Genital Warts

The commonest areas for genital warts to appear are the shaft and base of the penis for men and for women around the labia majora and pubic area. Rarely anal warts can also be present.

Sexual health clinics are available on the NHS and will carry out a full set of screening tests for STD’s (sexually transmitted diseases) or STI’s  (sexually transmitted infections).

Often the resources to treat patients are limited and whilst therapies are available they often take a long time to work and occasionally fail.

Genital Wart Patient Reviews

“I was embarrassed and it took a while to call but I am so glad I did as the doctor removed all the warts in one go. It took a few days to heal after the laser treatment but just happy not to have them any longer.”

Mike B. London

“I tried a cream over the internet that burned the skin around the wart but did not remove it depsite using it for weeks. Wish I had just seen a professional in the first place and after trawling the internet found Cosmedics whose doctors all do freezing, laser and surgery for warts. Mine required a bit of everthing but all done in one visit and they have not come back thank god.”

Aiden M. Surrey

“Wish I had done it sooner as got so worked up about it. The treatment involved a laser or some machine that simply burnt the wart off there and then. You can see it vanish and just left a small scab that healed in few days.”

Kim B. Berkshire

What do genital warts look like?

Pictures of penile warts men

For men the commonest place for genital warts is on the shaft of the penis or on the head itself. Both are easily treated and should be before they spread as they are highly contagious. Warts are often rough and almost cauliflower like in appearance and stick out. They can be in clusters or individual.

Fordyce Spots

Fordyce spots are common and normal for the skin of the penis. They are NOT wart conditions and dont need treating but if in doubt check with a doctor.

Pearly Papules

These are pearly papules and again harmless but if in doubt please check as if misdiagnosed can be a problem later on.

Pictures of genital vaginal warts for women

Women commonly get warts on the outer labia or around the inner thigh areas. Occasionally they can also be at the entrance to the vagina.

They often feel rough and small little lumps that are hard to see and only obvious when form clusters. These can be treated easily but need to be before they spread.

What causes genital warts?

Genital warts are caused by human papilloma virus (HPV).

However, you cannot rely on the visual presence of genital warts to determine if someone is infected with HPV. In some cases, genital warts never appear or can appear years after contracting the virus.

What do genital warts look like? How do I know if I have them?

Genital warts appear as flesh-toned or gray growths that are raised or flat on, in and around the genitals. They can grow in clusters that resemble cauliflower, or they can appear singularly.

Several pictures of genital warts circulate on the Internet. These are often extreme cases that are so severe that they block the vaginal and anal openings. Please note that cases such as these are uncommon, and these photos should not be used to compare with your personal symptoms. If you suspect that you may have genital warts, see your doctor. It is never a good idea to self-diagnose any condition!

Where do female genital warts appear?

In women, genital warts appear inside and outside of the vagina and inner thighs. They can also appear on the anal region, growing in and outside of the anus.

Where do male genital warts appear?

In men, genital warts can appear on the penis, scrotum, testicles, anus, groin and thighs.

Did I catch this from my current partner

Most people don’t even know when they contracted the virus that causes genital warts (HPV), as the warts can take years to show on the penis or vaginal areas.

Therefore it is important not to suddenly accuse your partner of being non exclusive as it is more than likely it was caught from a earlier partner without realising it.

Lovely doctor , explained all my options and we agreed on the best one for me. I had two moles removed on the same day as my appointment and I was done in twenty minutes. I would defiantly recommend Dr Vardy as the procedure was quick and painless

I had a small mole on the face that I was thinking of removing for a good few years. I had an appointment with Dr Todman and she and her assistant were very nice and professional, they explained everything I needed to know about the mole shaving treatment. I decided to do the treatment on the same day and it was the right decision. I am very happy with the result, the mole is removed and I dont have any scars. I highly recommend Dr Todman.

I have had a number of moles removed including one on my face that I was incredibly nervous about but I had no reason to be. Dr Perry did an excellent job of each one. I wouldn’t trust anyone else but him. Thank you Dr Perry!
