The following symptoms might be signs of hidden varicose veins:
- Aching legs
- Itchy legs
- Swelling in the legs
- Restless legs
- Leg ulcers
- Thread veins or unsightly leg veins
- Patches of small veins, especially ankle area
- Pink, brown or red discoloured skin of the lower legs

Diagnosing Hidden Varicose Veins
Hidden or underlying varicose veins can be difficult to diagnose properly. An ultrasound scan performed by an expert is the only way to establish whether varicose veins are present.
One company offering this service is Cosmedics Skin Clinics, which has a dedicated Veins Treatment Centre based at their Putney clinic in South West London.
Their vascular surgeon offers a comprehensive examination as well as a duplex ultrasound scan which is performed at the same consultation to show us exactly where the problem veins are so that treatment options can be fully discussed with the surgeon. The price of this extensive review is £150.
