The Daily Mirror, Daily Express and Daily Record have published timely tips on how to ‘survive’ the party season. Dr Ross Perry provided expert advice on keeping the skin healthy in the feature entitled:
“How to survive the festive party season from style hacks to essential makeup tips”
The feature explained that late nights and drinking can take its toll on the skin, leaving it looking lacklustre
Dr Ross Perry, Medical Director and founder of Cosmedics Skin Clinics, explained:
“Drinking alcohol dehydrates. Skin loses radiance and feels rough.”
Dr Perry’s advice is to drink plenty of water the day before and after the party in order to hydrate the skin from within. He commented:
“It will make a big difference to your skin. Also, always remove makeup before going to sleep to allow your skin to breathe overnight.
“Ideally I would recommend a gentle cleanser. However, if it’s very late and you’re exhausted, make-up wipes are a cheap and easy standby. Use two wipes, one after the other, to get rid of every last trace of makeup.”
Experts also advised pacing drinks in order to avoid a hangover:
- Eat a proper meal before a party to slow the rate of alcohol absorption
- Avoid drinking too much alcohol at once. Alternate alcoholic drinks with water
- Choose light coloured drinks over dark colours (i.e. red wine, dark spirits)
