Lip enhancement injections

Lip fillers are an injectable procedure to improve the shape and definition of the lips for a fuller, fresher smile

Lip Filler Treatment

Lip filler treatment, also referred to as lip enhancement, has become one of the top applications for modern dermal fillers.

Full lips are a sensual and attractive feature; so this treatment is popular with a wide age range.

Results include:

  • creating fuller upper lips for a more sensuous smile
  • removing fine lines around the mouth
  • erasing so-called “smokers’ lines”
  • enhancing the shape and definition of the lips
  • evening out unbalanced lips

Technique

We find that most of our patients want a natural-looking lip enlargement – the so-called “trout pout” is definitely not in. Therefore it is important that an especially skilful approach is adopted with fine attention to the shape of the lips, not just the size. We therefore only use soft natural gels such as Restylane® and Juvederm®. These contain an anaesthetic so the procedure is now virtually painless when the filler is injected into the lip.

Costs for lip fillers start from only £420.

ALL lip enhancements are done by GMC-accredited Doctors in our London and Bristol medical clinics.

Consultation

At Cosmedics ALL our consultations and treatments are by experienced UK doctors. Lip enhancements are the most skilled application of fillers and you should always see a trained professional with lots of experience as otherwise, you may regret a cheaper choice for a long time.

Lip enhancement by using lip fillers is the most common form of treatment to remove lines around the mouth, so-called smokers’ lines, as well as create fuller upper lips for a more sensuous smile. At Cosmedics we want to give you the best natural-looking results as safely as possible.

Treatment

The treatment takes about 15 minutes and is virtually painless as we use a numbing cream to help reduce any discomfort and the latest fillers also have anaesthetic that means it after a tiny scratch there is no pain. Patients are advised there may be some initial swelling and possible bruising which can be covered with make-up and are fine to go to work the next day in most cases.

We use only natural dermal fillers like Restylane, perlane and Juvederm to gently fill out the lines around the mouth, cheeks and face as well as fuller lips. These products are FDA approved unlike some other filler products and at Cosmedics we only use these scientifically-backed fillers that have had over 10 million treatments worldwide.

Today’s products slowly dissolve over 9-15 months according to your skin type and the density of filler used which is ideal as we can then top up the lines and wrinkles according to how the face has changed.

We advise against any permanent products as we feel the results achieved with natural non-permanent products are better, and also are able to adapt as your face changes.

Patient Review

“I wanted to send a note to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Dr Ross and the team. I’ve been a client for several years now and always been superhappy with the results (botox, fillers) so decided to have my lips done – and the result is amazing!

It’s subtle and natural looking but makes a huge difference; my lips look better than they did when I was younger.

Dr Ross – and everyone else I’ve met in the various clinics – is friendly and professional so any nerves are instantly soothed. Procedures are explained in layman’s terms, and you’re forewarned if anything is likely to be uncomfortable (to be fair, it very rarely is).

I work for a charity so am not overburdened with ready cash! but a visit to Cosmedics is well worth saving up for.”

Patient Reviews

“I’ve always had thin lips, but I didn’t want the trout pout, just a nice smile for my sister’s wedding.  I’m so pleased I did it and will definitely come back in a few months to have it done again.”

Ruth S.

“Fuller natural-looking lips was what I asked for. I am so pleased that I did not go anywhere else.”

Lip Fillers FAQ: Questions & Answers

Who is this treatment for?

Close Icon

Lip augmentation with fillers is best suited for those people who have developed lines around the mouth (perhaps due to smoking or sun damage) or those that want fuller bigger lips.

What is the cost of lip filler?

Close Icon

Prices start from £420.

How many syringes will I need?

Close Icon

Less is more for a flattering and natural result – it is less about the volume and more about skilful and artistic placement of the injections. Just one syringe distributed appropriately is usually enough. Your doctor will discuss this in full at your consultation, after examination of your lips and discussion of what you are trying to achieve.

What do I need to do before the treatment?

Close Icon

No pre-treatment care is needed.

Will the lip return to normal once the product has dissolved?

Close Icon

Yes, after about 4-6 months.

Should I avoid cheap lip fillers?

Close Icon

If it does by a medical doctor or nurse with experience then it may be ok, but you always tend to get what you pay for. At Cosmedics we offer the best prices for treatments with medically qualified Doctors/Surgeons who are trained and experienced in carrying out filler injections. We use top brand products.

This makes the procedure very safe.

How long does the lip enhancement last?

Close Icon

Treatment results are instant and last for 4 to 6 months. Repeat treatments can be done and have no long-term effect on the lips.

Can lip filler help smokers’ lines?

Close Icon

Yes, lip enhancement filler is a very effective treatment for tackling the lines caused by smoking.

What about aftercare following the treatment?

Close Icon

You will have swollen lips afterwards. This will mainly settle over the next 12 hours. Depending on the type of lip enhancement you have chosen, returning to work the following day should be OK.

Aftercare involves using a cold compress for the first day or so to help with any bruising or swelling that may occur.

Side effects with fillers are not that common however they can occur with bruising lasting 1-2 weeks or an allergic reaction which means the area can be red for up to a week. Occasionally a small lump can remain which if it does not settle with massaging can be dissolved with hyalase injections.

Will my lips feel different or weird?

Close Icon

You can expect your lips to feel a bit odd for the first week or two, as there can be some swelling after the procedure. However, after that a good quality lip filler that has been injected well by a professional should be undetectable, as the filler should be nicely integrated into the lips.

Who is not suitable for lip fillers?

Close Icon

We do not offer treatment to anyone under the age of 18 or to clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

You will not be able to have treatment if you’re allergic to any of the ingredients in the injectable filler gel.

If the skin in the lip area is swollen, damaged or infected, lip injections should not be administered.

If in doubt, please contact our team on  or 0207 386 0464 to see if you’re able to have lip enhancement.

Can fillers and BOTOX® be used together?

Close Icon

Yes and they often are to create a full face rejuvenation.

Restylane Lip Filler Guide

Close Icon

A Restylane treatment is long-lasting but non-permanent, and allows you to change your look over time. All lip filler treatments can be applied as one or combined as you desire – for an individual and natural look. Lip enhancement treatments are very easy with Restylane Dermal Fillers, and only require a local anaesthetic. The lip filler is injected into the lips to make them fuller and regain their natural look.

Lip line

A defined lip line accentuates your lips without changing your appearance too much. Restylane gives your lip enhancement a natural and smooth result. If you desire fuller more plump lips you could combine this treatment by adding volume to your upper and lower lip.

Cupid’s bow

Not everyone wants fuller lips. Maybe you just wish for a more defined cupid’s bow to define the shape of your upper lip. Restylane gives you the freedom to choose.

Smile lines

Smiling a lot might have given you unwanted lines on your cheeks. Restylane can smooth out those lines in a natural way. Keep smiling and let Restylane take away unwanted lines.

Lip volume

You change and fashion changes. For a long-lasting, non-permanent and natural result, choose Restylane! If you desire fuller lips or just want to balance an irregularity, Restylane can help you change as much or as little as you like. It could be just a small amount of volume or more if you prefer.

Sad mouth corners

Are you happy, and smiling – but your mouth is showing something else?

Smoker’s line

Even if you have never smoked you may have small lines around your mouth. These are called smoker’s lines. With Restylane you can easily smooth out those lines – if you want to.

Lip revitalisation

Dry lips? Refresh your lips by revitalising them from within. With small injections of Restylane Vital™ in your dry lips, you regain that sought after fresh look for your lips.

Restylane product information

Close Icon

Restylane is manufactured by Q-Med and launched in 1996 for the UK market. It is believed to be one of the most popular brands in the UK with most practitioners approving its use in treating patients with different medical conditions of the face. It therefore stands out as one of the most popular dermal fillers in the UK market.

Since its introduction into the market, it has been used by millions of people across the world with additional product range formulations developed with different sizes of the gel particles specifically for use in some areas of the face. Restylane® Lidocaine and Restylane® Perlane are available as of 2009 with an additional 0.3 percent lidocaine. It is generically a non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid gel (NASHA) and is made through the process of streptococci bacteria fermentation and does not require any tests before treatment is administered.

The hyaluronic acid, once the substance is injected into the body; breaks down gradually finally leaving the treated area with no left trace of the filler-implying that the product is temporary in application and so can only last for some limited amount of time. The main product ranges are:

  • Restylane
  • Perlane
  • Touch

Restylane works best when injected into the middle skin layer which is also the middle layer of the dermis and is used for lip enhancement and also treatment of moderate wrinkles; enabled by the presence of intermediate sized gel particles.

Perlane is large in gel particle composition and is suitable for facial contouring, lip enhancement and deep lines. It is advisable to inject it into the deep layer of the skin.

Touch is the smallest of all in terms of particle size and is best for very thin superficial lines, with injections right into the upper section of the dermis. Other formulations in the Restylane range include Lipp, SubQ, Vital and Vital Light which is targeted at treatment areas like the neck, face, the area between the neck and breasts (decotellage) and hands.

The hyaluronic acid that is lost due to ageing can be replaced by application of this range formulation. The duration for Restylane lasts for a few months depending on the practitioner, type, amount and area of administration.

Restylane is not used during pregnancy and have minimal side effects other than some bruising and mild swelling after the procedure. All the product ranges cannot be used for patients with known conditions of hypersensitivity towards hyaluronic acid.

Will it look natural or fake?

Close Icon

We aim to achieve natural-looking results. This is achieved through a ‘less is more’ approach, using small amounts of filler but placing it very precisely for a flattering result.
