Laser Mole Removal
Moles that are flat and light colored are often difficult to remove as they often leave some sort of scar. Laser mole removal offers an alternative to surgery or chemical methods of bleaching moles. Whilst it does not guarantee to leave normal looking skin it can improve some otherwise disfiguring moles. Each mole is assessed by our doctors to see if laser mole removal is appropriate. We would normally advise as to whether this type of method would give a beneficial result. We often refer to laser specialists for difficult moles if we feel this would give a better result.
The lasers that can be used are generally Intense Pulse LIght lasers, KTP or ND-Yag lasers that emit specific wavelengths of light to specifically target the darker color pigment in the skin and evaporate it.
Radio surgery is a precise way that cuts the moles away from the skin leaving almost no bleeding as it cauterizes the wound with a special magic wand like device.
For raised moles the best procedure is shave excision surgery and for suspicious moles by ellipse excision surgery.
