Overview

Lip enhancement is the most common form of treatment to remove lines around the mouth, so-called smokers' lines, as well as create fuller lips for a more sensuous smile. At Cosmedics we want to give you the best natural-looking results as safely as possible.

We use natural dermal fillers like restylane, perlane and juvederm to fill out the lines around the mouth and produce a fuller lip. The results last between 4-6 months. The product will dissolve away naturally afterwards, leaving your lip the same as it was prior to the treatment. Results last longer the more treatments you have. We advise against any permanent products as we feel the results achieved with natural non-permanent products are better, and also are able to adapt as your face changes.

Procedure

After your consultation and assessment with our doctor you can proceed to have the lip enhancement treatment. If you want, it can be done that day. We normally use anaesthetic to numb the lips, and the lip treatment only takes 10 minutes.

After the treatment your lips will be swollen and we normally advise the application of a cold compress on the lips for 10 minutes.

Most patients are fine to return to work the following day but some swelling can occasionally last up to a week.

Local anaesthetic is used to make the treatment as painless as possible. Several small injections are given to create the result you want. Some swelling immediately after is normal and the occasional bruise may also occur and this may last a few days.

The procedure is safe and we aim to achieve natural-looking results.

No pre-treatment care is needed

You will have swollen lips afterwards. This will mainly settle over the next 12 hours. Depending on the type of lip enhancement you have chosen, returning to work the following day could be OK, but it is advisable to take the next day off.

A cold compress is recommended for the first day or so.

Treatment results are instant and last for 4 to 6 months.

Repeat treatments can be done and have no long-term effect on the lip.

Will the lip return to normal once the product has dissolved? Yes.

The consultation with the doctor is free. All our treatments include the cost of anaesthetic and full aftercare. For all our lip treatments we use restylane or juvederm.
